Weekend events in Hamilton April 6-7, 2019

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events in and around Hamilton for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Craftadian Spring Market

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 from 10 am – 4 pm
Where: McMaster Innovation Park
Admission: $5

This year’s Craftadian Spring Market will feature more than 80 jury selected markets, showcasing a variety of handmade goods.

At the event you can expect to see skincare, yummy treats, and home-goods. If you’re looking for a unique gift, this market is the place to find it.

Easter Open House

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 from 10 am – 3 pm
Where: Walker’s Chocolate on Harvester Road
Admission: Free

Come and see how chocolate is made!

Walker’s Chocolates is opening their doors to the public on Saturday and will be offering free tours, samples and giveaways. Entry is free with a canned food donation.

Maple Taps Festival

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 from 12 – 6 pm
Where: West Avenue Cider House
Admission: Free

You know Spring is just around the corner when it’s Maple Taps Fest time!

West Avenue Cider House will have two special maplesque ciders available to sample – the modern classic ‘Smokeshow’ with new season maple syrup and the brand new ‘Fire Ball’ cider with cinnamon, spices and fire cider syrup.

There will be plenty of great food options available as well, from caramelized apple fritters to giant marshmallows to maple cotton candy. Hot apple cider and non-alcoholic ciders will also be available. This is an all ages event.

Stardust Drag Show and Dance Party

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 at 8 pm
Where: Absinthe
Admission: $5

Come support some local drag and give one of Hamilton’s queens a shot at galactic superstardom!

At this event, queens from the first Drag Wars have been invited back to battle it out for your votes to guarantee them a spot in the next Drag Wars in hopes of winning the title of Drag Supreme. Each queen will perform individual numbers of their choosing and try to win over the audience.

FIRST Robotics at McMaster

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 and Sunday April 7, 2019 from 9 am – 6 pm
Where: David Braley Athletic Centre
Admission: Free

McMaster University will be hosting one of Canada’s premier science and technology events for high school students – a FIRST Robotics Canada District Competition!

The Deep Space-themed event is set to draw more than 1,000 people.

The Vintage Marketplace

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 and Sunday April 7, 2019 from 10 am – 5 pm
Where: Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmens
Admission: $7-$10

Are you ready for the largest vintage event of the season? At the Vintage Marketplace, you’ll enjoy two days of vintage shopping, music, sights and entertainment!

The marketplace will feature the best antique, vintage, retro and vintage-inspired vendors with everything from clothing and furniture, to home décor and collectibles.

Divas in Concert

When: Saturday April 6, 2019 and Sunday April 7, 2019 from 8 – 10:30 pm
Where: Ancaster High School Theatre Auditorium
Admission: $17-$37

In its annual spring musical review, Theatre Ancaster will celebrate legendary women who paved the way for ladies in the music industry.

The show will celebrate icons like The Supremes and Aretha Franklin, then rock the house down with international superstars like Adele, Lady Gaga and many more!

Hamilton Theatre Mixer

When: Sunday April 7, 2019 from 1 – 3 pm
Where: Redchurch Café and Gallery
Admission: Free

Join Rook’s Theatre for a drop-in afternoon of coffee, Prosecco and good company!

Mix and mingle with other Hamilton-based theatre artists in the gallery space at Redchurch. Meet, catch up, network, and create a deeper connection with the members of the community who share the same passion.

Hammer City Samba

When: Sunday April 7, 2019 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Where: The Sky Dragon Centre Studio
Admission: Free

Come learn to play some funky beats with Hammer City Samba.

Hammer City Samba is a community percussion band; no experience is necessary and instruments are provided!
