Weekend events in Hamilton June 1-2, 2019

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

MacKids Walk & Wheel

When: Saturday June 1, 2019 from 9 am – 2 pm
Where: Bayfront Park
Admission: $25 for guests 18 and over, register online

Looking to get some early morning exercise and make a difference in your community? Join in at this year’s MacKids Walk & Wheel — the biggest fundraising event for the McMaster Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Now in its eighth year, Walk & Wheel has become an annual tradition for patients, families, and supporters of McMaster Children’s Hospital and Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre.

Re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek

When: Saturday June 1, 2019 at 10 am
Where: Battlefield House Museum and Park
Admission: $2 for non-members

Experience the drama, pageantry, and excitement of the Battle of Stoney Creek.

On June 6, 1813, one of the most important events in Canada’s history happened right here in Hamilton. Bring the whole family to celebrate and relive the battle, as well as enjoy various games and food. All ages are welcome.

Hamilton Waterfront Trail Shoreline Cleanup

When: Saturday June 1, 2019 from 10 am – 1 pm
Where: Pier 4 Park
Admission: Free

Restore the waterfront trail’s shoreline to its natural beauty this weekend by pitching in and helping with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.

Volunteers will meet and come together to not only remove harmful litter from our local shoreline, but also to keep tally of the trash found in order to help track the major and minor sources of litter in our community.

Imagine in the Park Children’s Arts Festival

When: Saturday June 1, 2019 from 10:30 am – 5 pm
Where: Gage Park
Admission: Free

Imagine in the Park is a free children’s arts festival held annual in Gage Park.

This year’s festival will feature hands-on workshops hosted by professional, local artists. Different art forms that will be focused on this year include music, dance, visual arts, literature and drama.

Barton Village Festival 2019

When: Saturday June 1, 2019 from 11 am – 8 pm
Where: Barton Village
Admission: Free

Join in on the fun at this year’s Barton Village Festival.

Spanning Barton Street East from Victoria Avenue North to Sanford Avenue North, Barton will be packed with various vendors, food trucks, and music stages. There’s plenty to do and see at this family-friendly event.

VintageSoulGeek Garage Sale

When: Sunday June 2, 2019 from 9 am – 3 pm
Where: VintageSoulGeek
Admission: Free

Looking for the best vintage pieces to spruce up your summer wardrobe? You need to check out VintageSoulGeek’s garage sale.

The vintage retailer will have hundreds of unique pieces marked down for the occasion, with most ranging between $1-$5. Special items will be priced separately.

Sourdough & Cider Experience

When: Sunday June 2, 2019 from 1 – 3 pm
Where: West Avenue Cider House
Admission: $150, tickets available online

The world of sourdough is vast and magical. At this Sourdough and pie workshop you’ll learn the basics of baking with sourdough through hands-on work.

Come spend the day with like-minded bakers and learn about all things sourdough through an in-depth experience of making your own pie crust and mixing + shaping sourdough loaves.

At the end of the workshop, each student will go home with a recipe booklet, sourdough starter, and instructions to keep it alive, a well as a loaf of sourdough and a pie to bake at home.

Carnegie Gallery Secret Garden Tour

When: Sunday June 2, 2019 from 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Carnegie Gallery
Admission: $20

It’s been a long winter, so treat yourself to Spring this weekend at the Secret Gardens tour.

This weekend is the first garden tour of the season. Complimentary refreshments will be available in the tea room. Music at the tea room is sponsored by Pat and Karen Lilja.

Art Aggregate Gallery & Open House

When: Sunday June 2, 2019 from 11 am – 3 pm
Where: Art Aggregate
Admission: Free

Visit Art Aggregate this weekend for their open house.

Tour their space and take in some beautiful works of art. This weekend they’re transforming their spaces into beautiful blooms to welcome the warm weather.

Terrarium Building Workshop

When: Sunday June 2, 2019 from 1 – 3 pm
Where: Collective Arts Brewery
Admission: $60, tickets available online

Enjoy an afternoon of fun at Collective Arts Brewery surrounded by plants and beer! They’ll supply the succulents and cacti and you’ll bring the creativity.

Terrariums are a great addition to any home or office and they are easy to care for. Your ticket to this workshop includes plants, various materials to customize your own terrarium, step-by-step instructions, a care sheet to take home and you first beer!
