Kids Mother’s Day Cake Class

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 from 9:30 am – 11 am
Where: Sprinkles on Top
Admission: $35

Make mom a special cake for Mothers Day! Basic decorating instructions and all supplies will be provided. Each child will make a two-layer 6” cake. Bakery box to take home your cake will also be provided!

West Hamilton Artists Tour

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 and Sunday May 12, 2019 from 10 am – 5 pm
Where: 106 Breadalbane St, Hamilton
Admission: Free

Visit acclaimed artists working in various fine craft and visual art mediums from Hamilton and the surrounding region. This tour is nestled under the Niagara Escarpment in picturesque West Hamilton which has become a major destination for art in Ontario. This year’s line-up includes 42 artists in 17 locations, from painters to potters, to sculptors and jewelers, to artists working with glass and mixed media and photography.

Mother’s Day Tea: Historic Cooking Workshop

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Where: Dundurn Castle
Admission: $55 per person

No other meal conjures up images of the Victorian era more than Afternoon Tea. During this workshop, you’ll work with Dundurn’s historic cooks to prepare nineteenth-century recipes next to the wood-fired range. Then, you’ll visit Dundurn’s public rooms to discover tea traditions during the MacNab family’s time, and explore below stairs to find out about the role of the servants in preparing and serving tea for family and guests. The workshop concludes with having a cozy early Afternoon Tea all together by gaslight in the historic kitchen.

Kinderfest presents ‘Tweet, Tweet’

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 at 10 am & 11 am
Where: The Studio
Admission: $15, available through Universe

Kinderfest is Hamilton’s only multi-arts festival for early years children! They will be performing the show ‘Tweet, Tweet’ where two little birds asleep in their nests high in a magical tree awake and discover each other and a wondrous world around them. Together they hop, flit, swoop, and fly to the sounds of music and nature. An aerial arts and circus creation for young children will be performed in an intimate forest-like setting. The show is a feast for the eyes and ears and suitable for 0-5 year olds and their families.

Hammer City Roller Derby Home Opener

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 at 5 pm & 7 pm
Where: Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena & Skating Centre, 25 Hester Street, Hamilton
Admission: $15-30, available through EventBrite

The Hammer City Roller Derby is back, kicking off the home season with a double header; a game at 5 pm and another at 7 pm! There will be a kids area, a beer garden sponsored by Nickel Brook Brewing, and food! Come out and support your local roller derby!

Clifford Brewing One Year Celebration

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 from 12 – 5 pm
Where: Clifford Brewing Co.
Admission: Free

Celebrate the one year anniversary of Hamilton’s Clifford Brewing — Canada’s winner for best brewery of the year — with live music, one-off brews, special beer releases, a pig roast, and more!

Mother’s Day Brunch

When: Sunday May 12, 2019 from 10 am – 2 pm
Where: 33 Bowen 
Admission: $55 per person

Enjoy a special brunch menu that includes Prime Rib, Banana French Toast, and Broccoli Cheddar Quiche. Not in the mood for any of those? There’s over 25 other brunch items to choose from! Plus, a gigantic Caeser bar to garnish your Caeser the way you like it! All moms will receive a $20 Gift Certificate for her next visit!

Forge FC vs. Cavalry FC

When: Sunday May 12, 2019 at 1 pm
Where: Tim Hortons Field

Hamilton’s professional soccer team Forge FC takes on Calgary in Forge FC’s third home game of the season! Enjoy the thrill of the game and the energy of the crowd in what’s sure to be an incredible match!

Hamilton Honey Badgers vs. Edmonton Stingers

When: Sunday May 12, 2019 at 4 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre

Cheer on Hamilton’s new professional basketball team in their home opener at FirstOntario Centre!

Virtual Reality Experience – BBC 1943 Berlin Blitz

When: Saturday May 11, 2019 and Sunday May 12, 2019 from 9 am – 5 pm
Where: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
Admission: Free with regular admission ($10-$15)

The BBC has created a masterfully animated Virtual Reality Experience using Vaughan-Thomas’ original war recordings, which vividly capture the danger of the bombing raid.

This unique cinematic experience transports visitors inside the bomber as the crew endures endless flak and a night fighter attack in their journey to the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe.

Presented in immersive Virtual Reality, this powerful experience is the closest that one can get to truly experiencing the bravery demonstrated by Bomber Command. The 14-minute experience is available for those aged 13 and up on a first come, first serve basis.
