Here’s what’s happening in the city this Victoria Day long weekend.

Pierogi Pop-Up

When: Saturday May 18, 2019 from 1 pm – 6 pm
Where: Grain & Grit
Admission: Free admission, pay as you go

Beer and pierogis! Pierogi Me will be serving up their delicious bites of potato and cheese goodness, with vegan options available!

Hamilton Honey Badgers vs. Saskatchewan Rattlers

When: Saturday May 18, 2019 at 5 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: $9 – $83

Hamilton’s professional basketball team faces off against Saskatchewan this Saturday for what’s sure to be an exciting match!

Glitter Bellydance Show

When: Saturday May 18, 2019 from 7 – 8:30 pm
Where: The Casbah
Admission: $15 per person

Glitter is a professional, curated bellydance showcase held in The Casbah & open to the public. The event is hosted the 3rd Saturday of every month!

See the Spring Blossoms 

When: Saturday – Monday
Where: RBG Arboretum, Bayfront Park, Hamilton City Hall, Gage Park, Centennial Park
Admission: Free at all locations except the RBG Arboretum

The trees are in bloom! After this weekend, many of the blossoms will fade so follow our Hamilton Spring Blossoms guide to make the most of it!

Comedy Show and a Three-Course Meal

When: Saturday May 18, 2019 from 7 – 10 pm
Where: Lincoln Alexander Centre
Admission: $10 – $70 per person

Guests can have fun watching a comedy show and enjoying a three-course Italian, Portuguese, Greek, or Indian and Nepalese dinner!

Kinderfest presents ‘Bonne Nuit’

When: Sunday May 19, 2019 at 11 am & 2 pm
Where: Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts
Admission: $13, available through Eventbrite

Bonne Nuit/Good Night! encourages creativity by showing children that it’s possible to communicate feelings and ideas with just a few simple objects – that can become characters with hilarious personalities.

This live performance will make for a great family event!

Virtual Reality Experience – BBC 1943 Berlin Blitz

When: Saturday May 18, 2019 and Sunday May 19, 2019 from 9 am – 5 pm
Where: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
Admission: Free with regular admission ($10-$15)

The BBC has created a masterfully animated Virtual Reality Experience using Vaughan-Thomas’ original war recordings, which vividly capture the danger of the bombing raid.

This unique cinematic experience transports visitors inside the bomber as the crew endures endless flak and a night fighter attack in their journey to the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe.

Presented in immersive Virtual Reality, this powerful experience is the closest that one can get to truly experiencing the bravery demonstrated by Bomber Command. The 14-minute experience is available for those aged 13 and up on a first come, first serve basis.

Salsa Soul Sundays

When: Sunday May 19, 2019 at 7 pm – 1 am
Where: The Spice Factory
Admission: $10 per person

Join the party this Sunday for a special long weekend edition of SalsaSoul Sunday! Beginner salsa lesson start at 7 pm — no partner and absolutely no experience necessary.

Then from 7:45 pm to 1 am, DJ Jorge Elmiro “El Romantico” will play his always elegant style of salsa, bachata, cha-cha, and merengue!
