Canada Day Celebration on Ottawa Street

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 from 10 am – 2 pm
Where: Ottawa Street
Admission: Free

Happy Canada Day, Hamilton! Visit Ottawa Street this Saturday to celebrate Canada’s 152nd birthday.

Dress in your best Canada gear and enjoy this special birthday with free cake and activities for the kids. There’ll be live music and face painting throughout the day.

Hamilton Plus Size Clothing Swap

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 from 12 – 3 pm
Where: First Unitarian Church of Hamilton
Admission: Free

Looking for trendy, plus-size women’s clothing at an affordable price? The 5th annual Hamilton Plus Size Clothing buy, sell, and swap event has got you covered.

This cash-only, multi-vendor indoor consignment sale is catered to clothing sizes 14 and up. Along with a wide variety of clothing pieces, you can also expect to find accessories and shoes.

Encore Saturdays: The Blues Brothers

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 at 9 pm
Where: Playhouse Cinema
Admission: $9 and up

Join Playhouse Cinema every Monday and Saturday night through June and July for a curated selection of the best music movies ever. Rock, pop, jazz, classical, blues, and disco — they’ve got something for everybody.

This weekend’s feature presentation is 1980’s musical comedy The Blues Brothers.

90’s Rager

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 at 10 pm
Where: Absinthe
Admission: $5, available online

Grab your Nerf gun and Pogs and prepare for Absinthe’s monthly 90’s Rager!

Take Cover will be playing your favourite 90’s hits all night long, plus DJ Party Jesus will be spinning the freshest tunes this side of Napster. Don’t feel like dancing? As always, 90’s Rager will also feature a SEGA corner with arcade games!

Escarpment Train Exhibit

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 and Sunday June 30, 2019 from 10:30 am – 4 pm
Where: Royal Botanical Gardens Rock Garden
Admission: $10 and up, included in general admission

The Royal Botanical Gardens’ newest train experience takes you on a journey through four seasons of whimsical Canadian landscapes while telling the story of how railroads shaped our history.

The Escarpment Train Exhibit illustrates three eras of locomotion history including the steam engines of the late 1800s, the streamliners of the 1930s, and the powerful modern diesels of the 1960s up to present day.

Oh Canada Ribfest

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 and Sunday June 30, 2019 from 11 am – 11 pm
Where: Waterdown Memorial Park
Admission: Free

Sink you teeth into the Canada Day long weekend at the Oh Canada Ribfest.

Celebrating 10 years, Oh Canada Ribfest will be serving up fantastic food and fun all weekend long. Come out for the ribs and stay for the live music, vendors, and family friendly activities.

It’s Your Festival

When: Saturday June 29, 2019 and Sunday June 30, 2019 from 12 – 11 pm
Where: Gage Park
Admission: Free

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, It’s Your Festival is one of Hamilton’s most anticipated outdoor festivals of the season.

Organized by Hamilton Folk Arts Heritage Council, It’s Your Festival features an incredible assortment of food, entertainment, games, contests, arts and crafts, and so much more.

June Family Fun Day

When: Sunday June 30, 2019 from 1 – 3:30 pm
Where: Art Gallery of Hamilton
Admission: $5 per family

Ever wondered what your child thinks about art? Come join the Art Gallery of Hamilton for it’s Family Fun Day and learn with your kids how to look at art carefully and think creatively.

Family Fun Day will begin with a miniature tour of the second floor exhibitions, followed by a hands-on art class. At the end of the class, your family will have a beautiful, one of a kind work of art to take home.

Downtown Hamilton Walking Tour

When: Sunday June 30, 2019 from 3 – 4:30 pm
Where: Hamilton GO Centre
Admission: Free, registration required

Take a walk this weekend with a local history expert and native Hamiltonian to hear the unique backstory behind this aspirational city. Learn about the city’s big ideas, what became of the efforts to breathe new life into Steel Town, and where Hamilton is headed.

This tour is designed for both locals who want to learn more about their city and visitors who want to know why there’s so much buzz about Hamilton.

Pinball for Humanity

When: Sunday June 30, 2019 from 5 – 8:30 pm
Where: Arcade
Admission: $5

Love pinball and supporting worthy causes? Test your skills at Arcade this Sunday at their charity pinball tournament in support of Habitat for Humanity Hamilton.

The qualifying round will take place from 5 to 7 pm, with each player getting up to 8 attempts. If 20 or less players register, the top half of players with the best scores will qualify for finals. If more than 20 register, only the top 10 qualify for finals.

Arcade will be donating each $5 registration fee to Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, but donating what you can above $5 is greatly appreciated.

Canada Day Celebration & Fireworks

When: Monday July 1, 2019 from 2 – 10:30 pm
Where: Bayfront Park
Admission: Free

RBC and the City of Hamilton invite you to visit Bayfront Park to enjoy spectacular free live music performances on the RBC Stage featuring Zaki Ibrahim, Rita Chiarelli, Darcy Hepner Jazz Orchestra, LTtheMonk, George Arnone Big Band, and Julianna Jones. In addition to free music, there will be 15+ food trucks, artisanal vendors, and a craft beer garden.

A family zone presented by Tim Hortons will provide all-day family programming including interactive games, inflatables, and more!

The night will end with a fireworks display that will impress the whole family beginning at 10 pm, this year set to a local, contemporary pop/rock soundtrack.

There is limited parking available near Bayfront & Pier 4 Parks so the City of Hamilton is encouraging all who are able to take the free shuttle service from downtown Hamilton to Bayfront Park beginning at 2 pm. Go here to learn more about the shuttle schedule and stops.
