Weekend events in Hamilton July 27-28, 2019

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Yoga with Alpacas: Fundraiser Class

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 at 8:30 am

 Fibre Friends Yoga

Fibre Friends Yoga is pleased to offer an incredible outdoor yoga experience unlike any other. At Fibre Friends, you will participate in a yoga class amongst alpacas and sheep.

The alpacas are very calm and curious, while the sheep are very well socialized and love being around people. The outdoor setting is very peaceful; the collective humming from the alpacas will ease you into meditation. Be sure to bring your own yoga mat and towel. All proceeds from this class will benefit the Stedman Community Hospice Hankinson House.

Hamilton Honey Badgers vs. Saskatchewan Rattlers

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 at 5 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: $20 and up, available online

The Hamilton Honey Badgers are set to take on the Saskatchewan Rattlers this Sunday in what is chalking up to be an awesome game.

Head down to FirstOntario Centre, wear your black and gold, and get ready to cheer on your home team!

Murder Mystery: Death on the Deck!

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 from 7 – 8:30 pm
Where: HMCS Haida
Admission: $14.70

Join in on an exciting, immersive murder mystery event set against the backdrop of post-war Canada.

In this classic who-done-it tale, you’ll interrogate suspects and look for clues as you assist the detective in putting the pieces of this mystery together. This is an all ages event.

Hermitage Ruins Ghost Walk

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 from 8 pm
Where: Hermitage Ruins
Admission: $15, tickets available online

Love learning about Hamilton’s ghostly history? The Hermitage Ruins ghost tour will give you all of the spooky knowledge you crave.

Being in a forest surrounded by the ruins of a haunted mansion is the perfect opportunity for telling ghost stories. On the tour, you will learn about Ancaster’s famous legends, a doomed coachman, and local places for dark rituals.

This tour welcomes all ages, but be aware that some content may be considered mature. The tour is for entertainment purposes only.

90’s Rager

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 at 10 pm
Where: Absinthe
Admission: $5

Grab your Nerf gun and Pogs and prepare for Absinthe’s monthly 90’s Rager!

Take Cover will be playing your favourite 90’s hits all night long, plus DJ Party Jesus will be spinning the freshest tunes this side of Napster. Don’t feel like dancing? As always, 90’s Rager will also feature a SEGA corner with arcade games!

ConBravo!

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 and Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 9 am – 11:30 pm
Where: Hamilton Convention Centre
Admission: $25 and up

ConBravo! is a festival celebrating the very best in independent creators. Whether you enjoy video, graphic novels, webcomics, gaming, or cosplay, ConBravo! is where you can celebrate your passion.

The festival incorporates learning and playing, offering hundreds of panels and workshops as well as arena, retro, and tabletop games to participate in.

Hamilton Fringe Festival

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 and Sunday July 28, 2019 from 10 am – 11 pm
Where: Various Locations
Admission: $12+, available online

Accessible, playful, and engaging — the Hamilton Fringe Festival is an action-packed performance event that takes place every July.

Boasting more than 50 companies offering up musicals, dance, comedies, magic shows, dramas, and family entertainment, there are nearly 400 performances to choose from.

With all different venues, Hamilton Fringe Festival’s performance times, prices, and age restrictions vary. The festival’s full schedule is available on their website.

Downtown Hamilton Walking Tour

When: Saturday July 27, 2019 and Sunday July 28, 2019 from 3 – 4:30 pm
Where: Hamilton GO Centre
Admission: Free, registration required

Take a walk this weekend with a local history expert and native Hamiltonian to hear the unique backstory behind this aspirational city. Learn about the city’s big ideas, what became of the efforts to breathe new life into Steel Town, and where Hamilton is headed.

This tour is designed for both locals who want to learn more about their city and visitors who want to know why there’s so much buzz about Hamilton.

Pinball for Humanity

When: Sunday July 28, 2019 from 5 – 8:30 pm
Where: Arcade
Admission: $5

Love pinball and supporting worthy causes? Test your skills at Arcade this Sunday at their charity pinball tournament in support of Habitat for Humanity Hamilton.

The qualifying round will take place from 5 to 7 pm, with each player getting up to 8 attempts. If 20 or less players register, the top half of players with the best scores will qualify for finals. If more than 20 register, only the top 10 qualify for finals.

Arcade will be donating each $5 registration fee to Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, but donating what you can above $5 is greatly appreciated.

Music at Fieldcote

When: Sunday July 28, 2019 from 6:30 – 9 pm
Where: Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum
Admission: Free, $5 a person as a suggested donation

Visit Fieldcote Museum this Sunday for an outdoor evening of music.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and find a spot to settle in for the night and be entertained. This weekend’s performer will be Bill Mays.
