Weiner-Paw-Looza

When: Saturday August 10, 2019 from 11 am – 3 pm
Where: Confederation Beach Park
Admission: Free

Love Dachshunds and supporting great causes? You can’t miss this year’s Wienerpawlooza.

Wienerpawlooza is an action packed day of games, food, costume contests, a silent auction and more in support of the Canadian Dachshund Rescue. Whether you and your pooch want to participate in contests or just shop around, there’s plenty for you to do.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. BC Lions

When: Saturday August 10, 2019 at 7 pm
Where: Tim Hortons Field
Admission: $29 and up, available online

It’s game day in Hamilton as the Tiger-Cats prepare to take on the BC Lions.

Get outside, enjoy some Saturday afternoon football and cheer on your home team.

Downtown Hamilton Ghost Walk

When: Saturday August 10, 2019 at 8:30 pm
Where: Royal Connaught Courtyard
Admission: $13.27, available online

Hamilton Ghost Walks are back at it again to show off the dark and interesting history of a truly haunted city!

Guests will partake in a guided tour in Hamilton’s core, stopping at historic buildings such as the Royal Connaught, Right House, Hamilton Place Theatre, and the Pigott Building.

Along the way, guests will learn about Hamilton’s infamous ghosts, gremlins in the bell tower of St. Paul’s, and the city’s connection to a notorious killer. This tour is for entertainment purposes only.

Virtual Reality Experience – BBC 1943 Berlin Blitz

When: Saturday August 10, 2019 and Sunday August 11, 2019 from 9 am – 5 pm
Where: Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
Admission: Free with regular admission ($10-$15)

The BBC has created a masterfully animated Virtual Reality Experience using Vaughan-Thomas’ original war recordings, which vividly capture the danger of the bombing raid.

This unique cinematic experience transports visitors inside the bomber as the crew endures endless flak and a night fighter attack in their journey to the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe.

Presented in immersive Virtual Reality, this powerful experience is the closest that one can get to truly experiencing the bravery demonstrated by Bomber Command. The 14-minute experience is available for those aged 13 and up on a first come, first serve basis.

Hamilton Rib & Craft Beer Festival

When: Saturday August 10, 2019 and Sunday August 11, 2019 from 11 am – 7 pm
Where: Gage Park
Admission: Free

Do you love barbecue and craft beer? If so, you can’t miss this year’s Hamilton Rib Fest. This yearly festival brings you the absolute best barbecue and craft beer in Canada for one weekend only.

Rib Fest is great for all ages and appetites. For the adults, this festival will feature a craft beer market, as well as a wine and spirits area. For the kids, there will be life-size board games and a designated kids’ zone.

Teddy Bear Picnic

When: Sunday August 11, 2019 at 12 pm
Where: Whitehern Historic House and Garden
Admission: Free

Join in on the fun and come on down to this year’s Teddy Bear Picnic!

At the Teddy Bear Picnic, children will enjoy old-fashioned games, a teddy bear parade, and a teddy bear hospital. Be sure to bring your own teddy bear!

Entirely free, this event is open to all ages but recommended for children ages 3 to 7.

Back to School Donation Drive

When: Sunday August 11, 2019 from 1 – 4 pm
Where: Eastmount Community Centre
Admission: Free

With the back to school season just around the corner, Hamiltonians want to make sure all children are prepared. The Mountain Kidz Klub is supplying free school supplies for kids in grades 1 through 12 to ensure that all students can have a successful start to their school year.

If your child is in need of extra school supplies, you can visit the Eastmount Community Centre from 1 – 4 pm. There will be backpacks, pens, pencil cases, binders, and all of the necessities.

If you are in a position to give, school supply donations are greatly encouraged. Donations will be accepted Sundays from 1 – 4 pm, Wednesdays 11 am to 2 pm and Fridays from 11 am to 2 pm.

Second Annual Garlic Gala

When: Sunday August 11, 2019 from 12 – 6 pm
Where: West Avenue Cider House
Admission: Free

The folks at West Avenue Cider House have come together to celebrate one of cooking’s most commonly used and flavour enhancing ingredient: garlic.

West Avenue will be premiering two new ciders at the event: the “Blueberry Juicebox” and the “Rhineapple”. Along with the ciders, there will be plenty of garlic-inspired food options, a mini farmer’s market, a garlic throwing and peeling competition, and a bouncy castle for the kids.

Music at Fieldcote

When: Sunday August 11, 2019 from 6:30 – 9 pm
Where: Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum
Admission: Free, $5 a person as a suggested donation

Visit Fieldcote Museum this Sunday for an outdoor evening of music.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and find a spot to settle in for the night and be entertained. This weekend’s performers will be Neema Children’s Choir and the Ensemble Vivant.

Hamilton Summer Swing Dance

When: Sunday August 11, 2019 from 7 – 10 pm
Where: Pier 8 Skating Rink
Admission: $5 at the tent

Join Steel City Swing this weekend to swing dance by the water as the sun goes down. A beginner lesson will take place at 7pm, with social dancing to follow at 7:30.

This weekend’s special guest is Hammer City Samba. This lively community band will be performing during breaks.
