Bill Nye is coming to McMaster

This Friday September 20th, world renowned scientist and television personality Bill Nye will be giving a presentation at McMaster’s Sport Hall.

Nye is slated to speak at 4 pm, with doors opening at 3. While the presentation was originally only open to McMaster students, alumni, and their guests, MSU Campus Events have released a limited number of tickets to the general public which can be purchased through this link.

Universally known and loved by millennials and Gen Z kids, Bill Nye rose to fame in the 90s with his hit show Bill Nye the Science Guy, which quickly became a staple in schools due to its perfect blend of education and entertainment. The show became critically acclaimed and Nye became a household name, winning 19 Emmies over the course of its 5-year-run, seven of which were awarded personally to him personally.

Aside from his most popular role, Nye has also appeared on other science-themed shows such as Planet Green Network’s Stuff Happens, and more recently Dancing With the Stars as well as his own Netflix show, Bill Nye Saves the World. In recent years he has also become increasingly involved in political discourse, most notably as a champion for climate activism and conservation.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online through Eventbrite or directly from the McMaster Alumni Association for $39.99 (early bird), or 49.99. If you’re a student, you will need to bring a physical copy of your McMaster student ID in order to be allowed into the venue; guests will need to be signed in by a student or alumnus.
