Michelle Obama to visit Hamilton

After months of waiting, the day is almost here! Former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama will be visiting Hamilton at the FirstOntario Centre on October 11th.

It was announced back in June that Mrs. Obama will be speaking at the event to spread her message of a renewed sense of purpose. Presented by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, An Evening with Michelle Obama is one of a number of speaking dates scheduled following the release of her book Homecoming.

Ms. Obama is married to former U.S. president Barack Obama, and was the first lady from 2009 and 2017.

While in the White House, Mrs. Obama led four major initiatives. Let’s Move was an initiative that addressed childhood obesity, Joining Forces supported veterans and their families, Reach Higher encouraged youth to seek higher education, and Let Girls Learn helped adolescent girls around the world go to school.

The CEO and President of the Chamber of Commerce said that Mrs. Obama’s “passion and energy will likely resonate in all corners of our community.”

The event begins at 7 p.m. on October 11th and tickets are available at ticketmaster.ca
