Queer on Stage’s Pride Showcase spotlights local art this weekend

If you like local art that pushes boundaries and tells stories in ways you’ve never seen before, then The Staircase Theatre is definitely the place you should be this weekend.

Queer on Stage, an independent Hamilton company dedicated to spotlighting new performance art by local artists from the LGBTQ2IA+ community, is holding its second annual Pride Showcase this Saturday at 7:30 pm.

The diverse line-up of exciting new homegrown theatre, comedy, storytelling, drag performance, and more features the work of Hamilton’s own up-and-coming queer artists including Tamai Kobayashi, Erika Reesor, Jade Walker, Laura Piccinin, and Rebekka Gondosch, who all bring their unique voices and artistic perspectives to the wide variety of featured works.

The evening promises both to be an eclectic collection of Hamiltonian performance art, and a celebration of the city’s LGBTQ2IA+ community; an especially important initiative given both the ongoing threat to provincial arts funding, and the current prevalence of hate and tension towards folks from marginalized groups within the city.

So get on down to The Staircase Theatre on Saturday to see some new local art that just might blow your mind!

Queer on Stage’s Pride Showcase begins at The Staircase Theatre (27 Dundurn St. North) on Saturday, October 5th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 at the door.
