Weekend events in Hamilton October 11-13, 2019

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Rockton World’s Fair

When: Friday October 11th, 2019 from 4 pm – 10:30 pm, Saturday October 12th, 2019 from 9 am – 10:30 pm, Sunday October 13th, 2019 from 9 am – 8:30 pm, and Monday October 14th from 9 am – 5 pm.
Where: Rockton Agricultural Society

The Rockton World’s Fair is the place to be this Thanksgiving weekend. In its 167th year, the fair will feature fall favourites such as plant and vegetable contests, 4H competitions, agricultural displays, exhibitors, a midway and much more.

An Evening with Former First Lady

When: Friday October 11th, 2019 at 7 pm

Michelle Robinson Obama served as First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017, transforming the position and becoming a role model, champion and inspiration for women, families, and young people across America and around the world. As a transformative First Lady, Mrs. Obama launched and led four key initiatives: Let’s Move!, to address the challenge of childhood obesity; Joining Forces, to support veterans, service members and their families; Reach Higher, to inspire young people to seek higher education; and Let Girls Learn, to help adolescent girls around the world go to school. See her at the FirstOntario Centre this Friday evening!

Haunted Hamilton Ghost Tour

History, Ghosts & Haunted Places, Mobsters, Murderers & Femme-Fatales… HAMILTON has it ALL!! Join your host Spooky Steph, Founder & Owner of Haunted Hamilton since 1999 for a Ghostly Haunted Tour through the historic & haunted streets of Hamilton!

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac

When: Friday October 11th, 2019 at 8 pm

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, the world’s finest tribute to Fleetwood Mac, returns to North America to perform its ‘50th Anniversary Tour’, a brand new show celebrating 50 years of the very best of Fleetwood Mac, including a very special blues set paying tribute to Fleetwood Mac’s legendary Peter Green era.

Art Crawl on James North

When: Friday October 11th, 2019
Where: James Street North
Admission: Free

Experience Hamilton’s headline-making arts scene at the city’s famous monthly Art Crawl. Stroll through the James North arts district and take in the many galleries, studios, shops, and restaurants that pulse with the rhythm of a truly welcoming, grassroots arts scene. Booths line the sidewalks with local art vendors, and buskers wander the street entertaining the crowds. Many venues offer special live music shows. This popular free event is held year-round on the second Friday of every month.

Silent Saturday – Nosferatu

When: Saturday October 12th from 4 pm – 6:30 pm
Where: Westdale Theatre

Celebrate the beginning of the halloween season at the Westdale Theatre! Enjoy a spooky classic with this fantasy horror silent film.

Supercrawl presents Hollerado

When: Saturday October 12th at 8 pm (7 pm doors)
Where: New Vision United Church

Hollerado visits Hamilton on their One Last Time tour. An indie rock band from Ottawa, the well-loved group performs on their farewell tour after 12 years together.

Born in the 80’s

When: Saturday October 12th, 2019 from 10 pm – 2 am
Where: Absinthe
Admission: $10 cover at the door (19+)

For a special one time only event, Absinthe has your favourite 80’s cover band Born in the Eighties. This will be something different and something fresh. It’s also the official Hollerado afterparty, so double the fun and double your pleasure. Music and visuals as always by DJ Party Jesus Here we go again Hamilton!

Seasons Closing at HMCS Haida

When: Sunday October 13th, 2019 at 10 am
Where: HMCA Haida National Historic Site
Admission: General Admission $3.90

Don’t miss your chance to visit the HMCS Haida for the last time in 2019! Thanksgiving Sunday is the last day of the season to see the legendary HMCS Haida, a Tribal class destroyer that served in the Second World War, the Korean Conflict and the Cold War. Explore its historic decks and imagine yourself as a crew member of the destroyer dubbed ‘Canada’s most fightingest ship.’

Bizarro’s Factory of Fear

When: Friday October 11th, Saturday October 12th, and Sunday October 13th, 2019 from 7 pm – 11 pm
Where: Mizener’s Antique Market
Admission: General Admission $15. Purchase tickets here.

Voted one of Ontario’s scariest haunted attractions, Bizzaro’s Factory of Fear aims to provide guests with the fright of their lives while raising money for mental health charities. Runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October.
