If you’re not 100% sure whether you’ve been naughty or nice this year, now’s your chance to ask the Big Man in person as Hamilton’s Santa Claus Parade is set to hit the streets this weekend.
On Saturday November 16th at 4:30 pm, a chunk of Hamilton’s downtown core will be overtaken by the annual holiday parade, filling the streets with massive decorative floats, live music, dance, and even a doggo or two. The tail end of the parade will, of course, feature Santa Claus himself as an official introduction to the 2019 holiday season.

The Santa Claus Parade has been a major family event in Hamilton since 1949, with locals of all ages lining the sidewalks on Bay Street, Barton Street, and James North to kick off the holidays in proper style. To help out Hamiltonians who may be struggling a bit during the holidays, the Parade also encourages the donation of non-perishable goods for their annual food drive.
While the major snowfall accumulating in the city this week was a bit of a drag, it may at least offer a more appropriately seasonal setting for the Parade this year. If you can’t make it out to spend time in the snow in person on Saturday, don’t worry: the Santa Claus Parade will also be broadcast live on Cable 14 for your home-viewing pleasure.
Of course, Hamilton drivers should also expect a wide variety of downtown road closures on Saturday for the duration of the Parade. A comprehensive list of these closures has been made available on the City of Hamilton’s website.
The 2019 Hamilton Santa Claus Parade comes to town on Saturday November 16th at 4:30pm, starting its journey at Barton St. W & Bay St. N, and ending at Barton St. W & James St. N.
