Weekend events in Hamilton February 21-23, 2020

Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Movie Making Camp Day

When: Friday February 21st, 2020 from 9 am – 3:30 pm
Where: Staircase Theatre
Admission: $60. Buy tickets here.

This one-day movie camp is an opportunity for media arts education on the HWDSB strike day. This “mini camp” will be a shortened version of the main camps with the goal of a very, very short film being produced that will also screen at the Hamilton Film Festival in November! Acting, directing, stop motion and using the camera and sound equipment will all be a part of this.

Artist Pop Up With Mystery Meat Design

When: Friday February 21st, 2020 from 5 pm – 9 pm
Where: Collective Arts Brewing
Admission: Free

Brandon Serbec, the creative mind behind Mystery Meat Design, will be visiting the Beer Hall for a pop up art gallery! Brandon’s work is an extension of all the things that inspire him – music, food, travel, photography. He spends most of his time designing for bands, restaurants, photographers and business start-ups. Brandon’s piece, “Galactic Central Sun” will soon be feature on Series 15 cans of Raspberry Dry-Hopped Sour, while previously he was featured on cans of IPA No. 11.

We the Nordic

When: Friday February 21st, 2020 at 7 pm

Blue Rodeo

When: Friday February 21st, 2020 at 8 pm

When fans lined Toronto’s Queen Street to get into clubs where Blue Rodeo was performing in the mid-1980s, the band felt as though they had achieved success. And, in fact, they had. But that success has grown exponentially through the ensuing three decades since they formed, and by staying authentic and true to themselves, Canada continues its enduring love affair with Blue Rodeo.

Heritage Fair

When: Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 at 10 am – 2 pm
Where: Hamilton City Hall
Admission: Free

Heritage Day 2020 is a co-operative venture hosted by the Hamilton-Wentworth Heritage Associaiton and the Tourism & Division of the City of Hamilton. A Heritage Fair featuring over 20 displays from local heritage groups, neighbourhood associations and the Local History & Archives (HPL) will be set up on the second floor of City Hall starting at 10 am.

February Bluegrass Night

When: Saturday February 22nd, 2020 from 7 pm to 10 pm
Where: Collective Arts Brewing
Admission: Free. Register here.

Join Collective Arts Brewing and Hamilton’s own Chopped Liver Bluegrass Band for their monthly Bluegrass Night at the brewery! It’ll be a laid back night of live music, beer and good times – and admission is free!

Andre Bisson 10 Piece Band

When: Saturday February 22nd, 2020 from 7:30 pm to 10 pm
Where: The Spice Factory

This is the show where Andre brings his 10-Piece Band to showcase his flavour of rhythm & blues and roots music while celebrating 15 years as a band!

Kidz Bop World Tour

When: Sunday February 23rd, 2020 at 4 pm
Where: FirstOntario Concert Hall

KIDZ BOP recently held a nationwide casting call to find a new group of talented young performers to sing on the KIDZ BOP albums, star in TV commercials & music videos and travel North America as part of the KIDZ BOP Kids live tour. Thousands of kids from across the country auditioned and KIDZ BOP had the tough job of narrowing it down to cast these six singing & dancing phenoms.

February Slam: Black Future Month

When: Sunday February 23rd, 2020 from 6 pm – 9 pm
Where: The Spice Factory
Admission: $5

Calling all poets and lovers of poetry! This month we’re celebrating Black Future Month. As we acknowledge and articulate the past, we are also excited about re-imagining the future. What is your story, and how does it interact with his/her story?
