Epic Books has just opened its second location

As of 4 pm today, one of Hamilton’s most beloved book stores has officially opened its doors to the public.

Epic Books, which has been a beacon for book lovers within the Locke neighbourhood, aptly named their new second location Epic Books: The Sequel.

The new bookstore is located in a renovated storefront adjacent to the front doors of the Playhouse Cinema. The store also connects to the theatre’s lobby so that movie-goers can browse novels as they wait for the show to start, or pick up a book as they exit the theatre.

Hamilton was treated to a preview of the space last week during a book launch of Margaret Atwood’s latest novel The Testaments. That soft opening also coincided with Epic Books’ 10 year anniversary.

The pairing of a single-screen independent movie theatre with an independent book store appears to be a perfect match — Playhouse audience members have already taken very well to the new addition.

You can check out Epic Books and Playhouse Cinema at 177 Sherman Ave N.
