Gage Park is receiving $1.55M in pathway upgrades

Hamilton’s Gage Park is about to get a bit of a glow-up.

The iconic east-end park – home to countless festivals, picnics, and afternoon strolls – will soon see some major upgrades to its walking pathways thanks to municipal, provincial, and federal funding towards the project.

Signage has gone up at the park advertising the forthcoming upgrades, noting it as a project made possible by Ontario Builds.

Work on the Gage Park walking path upgrades is set to begin sometime in July, and finish before the end of the year.

The upgrades are pegged at around $1.55 million and are part of five different local infrastructure projects the city has received funding for, also including:

  • $3.3 million in upgrades to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning in public buildings, recreation centres, and libraries.
  • $1 million towards upgrading public service counters, including barriers between patrons and staff.
  • A $570,000 cycling trail that connects McMaster University and Hamilton General Hospital.
  • Roughly $960,000 in upgrades to Andrew Warburton Memorial Park and Pipeline Trail.

Locals attending Gage Park should note that the upgrade project will likely impact some walking path access as it progresses in the coming months.
