A popular Locke Street dining staple is getting a bit of a makeover.
Casual-fine dining spot Mattson & Co., one of downtown Hamilton’s favourite spots for elevated lunch and dinner fare, announced on February 7th that they would be unexpectedly and temporarily closing up.
“Our Chef has asked for some personal time to address a private matter. As such we are closed this weekend and are deeply sorry for any inconvenience,” said Mattson & Co. owner Ronn Mattai on social media.
While the closure ended up sticking for longer than just a weekend, the wait for a reopening ended up being pretty short nonetheless An update was posted to Mattson & Co’s social media this week saying that the restaurant will be relaunching as of Saturday, February 22nd with some key changes.
“We have welcomed a new chef to our team, and together we are busy developing a new menu to launch this weekend,” said Mattai in his Instagram post.
The details of the new menu haven’t been released yet, but the news signals an intriguing change for this Locke Street favourite; and undoubtedly, the restaurant’s new dishes will feature the same level of quality and culinary expertise Mattson & Co. is known for.
