Being born and raised in Hamilton, I cannot help but be inspired by hard working, passionate Hamiltonians who care deeply for our city. I’m constantly being shown examples of how to be a better version of myself, give back to my community, and be the best Hamiltonian I can be.
The team behind Cake and Loaf is the purest example of what it means to be Hamiltonian. Day in and day out, the loafers put their passion to work and bring the most amazing baked goods to life. Each and every staff member puts in the time, hard work and dedication to make this bakery what it is today. Talented, charitable, and downright delicious, Cake and Loaf deserves every ounce of praise they have ever received.
With pre-orders starting over a month in advance, Easter is the busiest season at Cake and Loaf. I love picking up goodies from them any day of the week, but Easter treats have become a holiday staple for many Hamiltonians.
Their most popular Easter menu item is the Cream Egg Brownie. Returning for its fourth year, people will literally line up around the block to get a taste of this layered treat. It’s comprised of a fudge brownie bottom with a cream egg in the center, two layers of white chocolate fudge (in yolk yellow and white respectively), and is topped with milk chocolate.
Did you love the surprise of the Cream Egg inside your Cream Egg Brownie? Want to buy some? Cake and Loaf has got you covered. Each pack of Classic Cream Eggs contains five of Cake and Loaf’s take on the Cadbury Cream Egg. Each of the sweet eggs are dipped in fair trade organic dark chocolate.
Cake and Loaf understands how much people love mini eggs. This year they have incorporated mini eggs into a multitude of new takes on their traditional recipes.
The sandwich cookie is taken to the next level when mixed with mini eggs. Two chocolate cookies are embedded with crushed mini egg chunks, sandwiching vanilla bean buttercream and a pool of milk chocolate ganache. The Mini Egg Sandwich Cookie is finished off with mini egg crumble on the sides.
One of my personal favourites off of this year’s menu is the Mini Egg Eclair. You cannot go wrong with 35% Hewitt’s whipped cream, chocolate ganache, and mini egg crumble. Taking a bite of this eclair gave me childhood nostalgia like nothing else.
Need more mini eggs? I also recommend trying the Mini Egg Chip Crisp, Mini Egg Waffle, Mini Egg Scone, the Mini Egg mini chocolate cheesecake, and a slice of the Mini Egg Grab and Go Cake.
What about mini eggs as a drink? Well, look no further than the Mini Egg Mania! Made either as an espresso latte or hot chocolate, your drink will be topped with Hewitt’s 35% whip, crushed mini eggs, and rainbow sprinkles. If you need a boost of energy to get through your Easter preparations, give this drink a try.
Cake and Loaf have truly outdone themselves again this Easter season. They have proven time and time again that they are capable of anything – to provide treats to thousands of people, to remain charitable at heart, to be strong and passionate workers, and to be role models to people like myself.
Everything that comes out the door of Cake and Loaf Bakery had started its journey with love and care. From being made to being packaged, each loafer who took part in the process of getting the product to the customer did so with careful consideration. It feels so much easier to spread love in the world when doing so with something from Cake and Loaf.
Little dessert shop with lots of options. Can be pricey but worth the quality.
