The Pearl Company arts venue sets its official closing date

Another beloved arts space in Hamilton has set a date to close its doors.

The Pearl Company, a gem (or pearl) of an arts hub in downtown Hamilton that has seen everything from intimate concerts to visual art gallery showings to exciting local pieces of theatre, announced recently that their gorgeous heritage building venue at 16 Steven Street is expected to officially close on June 30th, 2020.

While the set closure date is brand new information, the fact that The Pearl has been nearing its closure is hardly news; the owners, Gary Santucci and Barbara Milne, have had the building listed for sale since 2018.

Local arts lovers have been on the edge of their seats expecting The Pearl to close up shop at any moment but, unexpectedly, the venue has still been going full-force for years. A posting on The Pearl’s website states that the the building just had a potential sale fall through, but the owners are nonetheless saying goodbye to The Pearl as they look forward to a more stable existence with a forthcoming well-earned retirement.

With under a year left for The Pearl Company as a Hamilton arts incubator, now’s your final chance to go check out the building’s gorgeous architecture coupled with fantastic local art! You’ll be missed, Pearl.
