Cafe Mondo closes after only one month

It’s only been a month since Cafe Mondo began running regular hours (March 2nd to be exact) and today through Facebook and Instagram, owners Mark and Alicia have announced that they’re already closing up the cafe.
The owners admit that running a cafe didn’t mesh with their “gypset souls” which, since it’s a travel-themed cafe, I interpret as meaning that the cafe was more restrictive than their adventure-seeking personalities anticipated.
The post goes on to mention that Cafe Mondo is still available as a venue for workshops, meetings and celebration — just the cafe itself will not be operating.
This is a real shame as the travel-inspired menu was based on the couple’s personal global trips, making for a very unique product offering. They also sold to-go salad bowls and drinks that encouraged an active lifestyle.
The owners are asking that if anyone has a desired use for the cafe to contact them. Perhaps someone else can carry the torch that’s been lit.
Cafe Mondo‘s plant and sunshine filled space will definitely be missed. Their theme was quite unique when compared to other independent coffeeshops in Hamilton.
