Hamilton has seen its second fatality at the hands of the COVID-19 virus, as another senior-aged resident at Heritage Green Nursing Home in Stoney Creek has died due to complications from the virus.
The 88 year-old woman died this past Monday at the nursing home, less than a week after Heritage Green saw a separate 80 year-old resident become infected with and die from the novel coronavirus after being hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

These tragic fatalities, the only current confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in the city, come shortly after the news that Heritage Green had declared an outbreak of the virus at the nursing home.
As of earlier this week, 17 residents and 10 staff at the residence displayed symptoms of the virus.
At the time of this writing, Hamilton has seen 127 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19; 29 of which indicate that there is community spread of the virus.
